7. The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD (Oct)
Though it's not exactly a great sign when a console's future rests on the strength of an HD remake, there's no denying the popularity of these sorts of ventures, and to their credit, it seems like Nintendo have taken their time to ensure that this remake will be worth the bother. The game entered development after the team were experimenting with visual styles for a new original Zelda game, and given the graphical leaps that have taken place in the last decade, this is one HD remake that actually seems to fit the bill (rather than being a rushed, upscaled version). There are countless new features integrated for the Wii U; you can play the game off-screen on the touchpad, but also use the pad to display your map and inventory, and even use motion control for some of the game's weapons. In addition to this, travel has been sped up, and a new difficulty setting has been added. It certainly sounds like a lot of effort has been put into it, and so expect this one to give the platform a much-needed end-year boost ahead of the PS4 and Xbox One launches.
