5. Mario Kart 8 (Spring 2014)
The Mario Kart series is one of Nintendo's undeniable, can't miss mainstays, a franchise that's been perennially popular and will surely continue to be for years to come. Its combination of wacky power-ups, crazy courses and barmy extra features has kept it massively entertaining, and surely Mario Kart 8 will be no different. Though we're still waiting to hear the main bulk of information about the game, we know that gliders and bikes are returning, while vehicles can also go underwater, and the most ambitious addition is that of anti-gravity, whereby players will be able to race upside down and in all sorts of bizarre configurations. With the (relatively) advanced tech of the Wii U, it's impressive to see Nintendo not just resting on their laurels but instead actually experimenting with new things. Whether it'll work remains to be seen, though you can guarantee that this one will sell tens of millions of units in a heartbeat.
