8. Forspoken
Formerly known as Project Athia, developers Square Enix has gradually begun drip-feeding information about Forspoken, a new IP which looks like it could be something special.
We know little about the game's setting other than that the protagonist Frey, a resident New Yorker, is transported to the mysterious world of Athia. There, she meets a talking bracelet and gains magical powers.
As you'd expect from Square Enix, the game looks stunning. Its visuals evoke the feel of Final Fantasy XV (still a fantastic-looking game), but its the traversal mechanics that look like the best thing about the game. Frey appears to have the ability to move at an incredible pace, leap into the air extremely high, and traverse vertical outcrops with ease. It looks fast, fluid and exciting.
On top of that, Forspoken also looks to have a great emphasis on exploration and using different spells to great effect in combat.
Keep an eye out for this one - Forspoken will be released this year on May 24th 2022.
