6. Titanfall (PC, Xbox 360, Xbox One - 2014)
Easily one of the most anticipated next-gen titles so far, Titanfall comes from Respawn Entertainment, headed by Call of Duty masterminds Jason West and Vince Zampella after they were summarily fired from Infinity Ward for "insubbordination". The game - which is multiplayer only - pits players as either regular ground troopers or soldiers housed within mech-type walkers called "Titans", as they strive to complete objectives while facing off against another team. Respawn have made it clear, though, that the game will inject single-player aspects such as NPCs and a detailed narrative. Given that it's headed up by West and Zampella, this is easily one of the most legitimate contenders to topple CoD, and given how disgracefully they were sent packing from Infinity Ward, you can bet that a) they're hungry as Hell and b) they want revenge. What we've seen of the game so far looks fantastic, and if it proves as addictive and diverse as it looks, then CoD is going to have some serious competition when next year's installment releases.
