5. Mad Max (PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One - 2014)
One of the more unexpected announcements at this year's E3 was the unveiling of a Mad Max game, and though we don't know very much about it, it's believed to be a third-person post-apocalyptic shooter with a major focus on vehicular combat (which would make a lot of sense). Though Mel Gibson isn't returning to voice Max Rockatansky, the character
will have an Australian accent - after much controversy surrounding the American accent we can hear in the trailer - though there's no word yet if it will be based in any way on the upcoming Tom Hardy-starring movie, Mad Max: Fury Road. Though it'll be a very different beast to CoD, one can't discount the thrill factor of a Demolition Derby-type yarn, something we've been sorely missing since the online gaming revolution of the last decade-or-so. If this game pits us in a vast, online world, where we can chase down other drifters and form gangs, then this could be absolutely astonishing. The built-in fanbase will no doubt aid its popularity, and hopefully it won't become yet another disappointing movie adaptation.
