10 Upcoming Video Game Movies That Could Actually Be Amazing

8. Hitman: Agent 47

The Story: Agent 47 is a genetically-manufactured assassin-for-hire who goes up against an evil corporation who threatens to steal the secrets of his cloned origins for their own means.

Why It Could Be Amazing: The main selling point has to be the strong, yet underrated cast the film has assembled. It’s headlined by Rupert Friend and Zachary Quinto, stars in the TV world who have yet to take off on the big screen. They’re joined by supporting players like Ciaran Hinds and Thomas Kretschmann, so the potential is definitely there for a well-acted action spectacle.

To be fair, there are some obvious red flags. The film doesn’t look like it’s sticking very closely to the source material, and more importantly, it’s coming from the genius mind of Skip Woods, the writer behind such hits as A Good Day To Die Hard, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, and the first Hitman.

Even if the characters aren’t the greatest, the action absolutely could be, despite it not looking to be very stealth-oriented. The most promising sign for this film might be the fact that its release date was moved from February to August, potentially signalling some faith in it from the studio.
