2. Metro Exodus
Based on the bestselling novel Metro 2033 by Dmitry Glukhovsky, the Metro series of games focus on the happenings of a post-apocalyptic society constrained to one of the few habitable environments left in the world: the Moscow subway system. There, humanity continues to survive despite their incredibly harsh surroundings.
The third game in the series, Metro Exodus will continue the story of Artyom, a survivor of the initial war and soldier tasked with defending his people against opposing factions. While the previous two games extensively featured the Russian subway tunnels in which these people lived, Exodus looks to be taking place primarily above ground.
Though fans have speculated that this game will be the first in the series to feature an open world sandbox, Deep Silver, the game’s publisher, stated that this isn’t going to be the case, which will likely encourage series veterans.
The Metro series is one of the more inventive and emotional franchises to have come out in the last ten years, and Exodus looks to be a tremendous capstone for the trilogy.
