Call me cynical if you like, but how often are console launch titles actually great? The vast majority of them are glorified tech demos to show off how fantastic the graphics are, while less effort has been put into the actual gameplay mechanics, resulting in a somewhat underwhelming - if gorgeous - game.

While Killzone: Shadow Fall certainly looks great, I'm not expecting much more than a bog-standard FPS title, one that'll probably last 6-or-so hours (in line with the last game) and have a decent if not particularly memorable multiplayer component.

Of course, I hope that I'm wrong, but this is just the trend of launch games; developers are overwhelmed by the tools they have, and it's normally not for around a year that they begin using a next-gen machine to its potential. Again, I could be wrong, but I doubt it; I could see myself trading this one in pretty sharpish.
