10 Upcoming Video Games That Are Tricking You (But Not How You Think)

If you've been paying attention to the marketing for The Last of Us Part II - but steering clear of those pesky plot leaks - you may very well be under the impression that the game's trailers have been weirdly spoilerific.

The first teaser trailer painted an ambiguous enough picture of Joel that many fans speculated he might actually be a ghostly vision in the game after being killed early on.

But newer trailers showed off extensive interactions between Ellie and Joel which largely seemed to rubbish that theory, while implying that Ellie will instead set off on a revenge mission after her girlfriend Dina is killed.

But once again, it seems like the notoriously cagey Naughty Dog are toying with fans.

Considering how hyper-aware the company is of cinematic tropes, it's far more likely that this is just another misdirect, and not only does Dina survive, but it is in fact Joel who ends up killed at some point in the game.

Admittedly, at this point the narrative waters are muddied enough that neither outcome would be terribly surprising, which is likely exactly what Naughty Dog wanted.

But it seems most unlikely that Naughty Dog would reveal Dina's death so blatantly if it truly is the narrative path the game takes.
