10 Upcoming Video Games To Look Out For In February 2017

9. Nioh

What is it: After an extended time in development hell as far back as 2004, and multiple timed demos for players to critique and shape the final release, Team Ninja's demon slaying hack-and-slash RPG is finally setting sail for launch date.

Nioh is a dark fantasy retelling of the life of William Adams, an English sailor who earned the trust of the shogun Tokugawa Ieyasu, and became a samurai under his service. In a slight deviation from the real life tale, Nioh's William is trained to slay the Yokai (Japanese demons) that exist across Japan.

An action RPG from the creators of Ninja Gaiden, Nioh is a quick yet methodical hack and slash where players will have to think on their feet or die quickly, as they fight both human and yokai opponents. Throughout the missions, players can find and fight the ghosts of players who have fallen, or summon allies to assist them in combat.

Differentiating itself from the inevitable Dark Souls comparisons, Nioh also allows players the ability to switch mid-combat between three combat styles, and grow a skill tree of abilities for every weapon they find.

When's it coming out: 8th February.
