10 Upcoming Video Games Which Are Already Doomed

8. Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP

A remake of the James Gunn-penned cult fave action game Lollipop Chainsaw was first announced in the summer of 2022, and while it sadly doesn't have either Gunn or game director Suda51 involved, the real concerns lie elsewhere.

Above all else, during development Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP was rather quietly downgraded from a remake to a remaster, with publisher Dragami Games even daring to claim that this was done due to fan requests for a remaster rather than a remake.

Except, many fans were eager to see the original game's more awkward gameplay elements smoothed out alongside a wider visual overhaul, and indeed, the first trailer for RePOP makes it look like a fairly low-effort remaster.

But the final nail in the coffin for many? All sixteen of the licensed songs included in the original game - such as Toni Basil's "Mickey," Dead or Alive's "You Spin Me Round (Like a Record)," and Joan Jett and the Blackhearts' "Cherry Bomb" - have been removed due to the costs of re-licensing them.

The music is a core part of Lollipop Chainsaw's identity, and so combined with the overall scaling-down of the project, it feels like this remaster is being turned out with the bare minimum effort possible.
