10 Useful Video Game Companions That SUCKED To Hang Out With
8. Paimon - Genshin Impact
Right at the start of Genshin Impact, players are introduced to their companion character for the rest of the game, Paimon, who serves as their guide throughout the world.
Paimon is objectively useful in terms of moving the story forward and shepherding you in the right direction, but it's also fair to say that developers miHoYo ultimately made her a little too "helpful" for her own good, to the extent that she's actually a major nuisance.
It's tough to think of many video game sidekicks in recent memory more universally despised than Paimon, for as well-intended as she undeniably is, her regular, random outbursts and interruptions while the player is performing even the most mundane of activities are incredibly irksome.
It doesn't help of course that Paimon has a cutesy, high-pitched, nails-on-a-chalkboard voice, ensuring that within days of the game's release, players were already begging the developer to let them mute her.
Ultimately Paimon's utility as a mildly helpful support character is massively outweighed by how relentlessly she prattles on at great speed about, well, absolutely nothing.
