10 Video Game Achievements You Literally Had To Die For

Achievement: Rise And Fall

Shadow Of Mordor's fascinating nemesis system didn't quite turn out to be the game-changing asset to the industry that many expected when the game was released in 2014, not really taking hold in many titles since, but it's unique form of NPC interaction certainly turned some heads nonetheless.

It's the deep hierarchy system of the enemy that the achievement in question arises, really going against the point of most of the game by being forced to help an Uruk soldier work his way up the ranks of their army, getting him to the top of the totem pole, and then killing him.

The first step of the whole process is by far the easiest. Let an Uruk soldier kill you. The trophy can only begin by allowing yourself to be killed, not by a boss or a powerful enemy, but by a regular soldier, promoting them to Captain at the expense of your own life.

From there you have to nurture your newly crowned friend, making sure he isn't killed at any point and helping him garner more promotions, first to a Warchief's bodyguard, then finally a Warchief itself.

The achievement is eventually awarded when you kill the same Warchief that killed you when they were a measly soldier. Isn't revenge sweet.
