10 Video Game Annoyances That Must Die Next Generation

2. Less Ports And More Remakes

If the success of Resident Evil 2 has taught us anything, it's that there's still plenty of life in the idea of video game remakes. Capcom's recreation was a commercial and critical success, reigniting the hardcore fanbase who loved the original games and being hailed as the franchise's best entry in years. What it also cemented, however, is how badly lazy HD ports need to die out.

HD re-releases have become one of the industry's shadiest practices over the last 10 years, developers repackaging old games with their DLC, some slightly tweaked visuals, a stencilled in 'definitive edition' subtitle and a retail price tag slapped on before sitting back and raking in the cash.

With newer remakes actually rebuilding classic titles from the ground up and serving as authentic love letters to the games they are replicating, it's becoming obvious that full remakes are the future.

Crash N. Sane Trilogy was a wonderful recreation that captured the aesthetics and fun (if not infuriating) gameplay of the original, while Spyro's Reignited Trilogy remade the Sony mascot perfectly under the lens of modern hardware.

As we move forward, it's evident that there's a desire for remakes that authentically reimagine old games rather than lazily porting them over and charging full price.
