While it's certainly fun to play the lone hero in New Vegas, the kind that always carries a big iron on their hip, the game also lets you play as the villain of your story. Typically, this means joining the Legion or killing every unfortunate NPC that crosses your path.

This said, there is another, secret way to finish New Vegas as the ultimate monster, and even though it's considered a bad ending, it is still the best ending any diabolical player can hope for.

New Vegas' DLC, Dead Money, is centered around the location of Sierra Madre, where a mysterious red mist either kills or horribly mutates anyone who enters it. The DLC's main villain, Father Elijah, seeks to weaponize the mist and unleash it upon the Mojave so that he may "wipe the slate clean."

You're obviously meant to oppose Elijah, but you can also secretly team up with him if you want to. This prompts a special cutscene in which you and Elijah kill everyone by unleashing the Cloud and become the Mojave's enigmatic overlords.

The cutscene does cause the game to end, but then again, you've already conquered the land, so you don't really have a reason to keep playing.
