10 Video Game Bad Endings You Can Get By Pure Accident
1. Don't Exit The Game - Banjo-Kazooie
Being able to take a break in the middle of your gaming session is really important, and in most single-player games, you're free to quit the game and start from where you left off at any point you'd like.
Most, because in Banjo-Kazooie it's the easiest way to earn the game's worst ending.
Yes, this classic Rareware platformer doesn't let you save and quit during the final level of the game. If you do, the game will not go to the main menu and instead bring up the final cutscene where the evil witch Gruntilda steals the cuteness of Banjo's sister Tooty, transforming the girl into a creepy monster and herself into a runway model with a very apparent green complexion.
It seems even Tooty's charms, which are supposedly the greatest in the world, can't wash off that iconic swamp tan.
Anyway, going back to the ending, the fact that the game doesn't let you know quitting would lead to this kind of outcome has obviously left plenty of children back in 1998 pretty upset, if not downright traumatized. The betrayal probably made them never want to pause for dinner ever again.
Not that they needed an excuse, of course.
