10 Video Game Betas That Put You Off Full Games
8. Fallout 76
Fallout 76 was the first game in the franchise to offer a fully-fledged multiplayer component. At first it appeared Todd Howard proudly boasted "sixteen times the detail" in its game world and that the title would offer just as extensive an experience as their previous RPGs. However, dissent was already brewing over the game's lack of a single-player mode, but more revealing was the lack of any dedicated NPCs in the game world.
Entering its open beta in October 2018. Bethesda's fall from favour was swift; even in its beta, Fallout 76 was shaping up to be a pathetic excuse for a video game. Broken game mechanics, a serious griefing problem among the player-base and a gargantuan horde of unsightly bugs that put the developer's poor approach to game optimisation on full display.
Anger began to mount and rather than work to fix these issues, Bethesda instead stayed the course for the game's release one month later. As for the final product, what can be said about it? It's been nothing short of a total disaster, disgracing both its developer and franchise.
Bethesda's incompetence has shown itself through re-occurring bugs, a shallow content pool and at worst, having the gall to charge for an annual subscription when the game itself isn't even fully functioning.
