10 Video Game Bosses That Forced You To Play Properly
6. Everyone - Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice
Unlike any Soulsborne before or after this, at the time of writing, none demand such dedication to one set playstyle. And if the many waves of men with big sticks that constantly use their unblockables don’t hammer this home, then the bosses of Sekiro will certainly don that for you.
Previous games all at least account for a certain level of variety when it comes to playstyles, they even let the player grind out levels if they don’t feel up to the challenge. In Sekiro however, that is all out the window in favour for one style of play a little opportunity to cheese an enemy, let alone a boss.
Fat rolling is out of the window and those how just like to dodge in general will taken to school time after time as the succumb to a massive swipe, leaping or massive area of effect attacks.
So how does one get through Sekiro without their shadow dying hundreds upon thousands of times? How do you overcome the Owl or Genichiro? Utilise the hell out of that block button. Time it just right for the perfect parry and be patient as with one misstep and it’ll pretty much be game over.
Seriously, just forget the dodge button even exists. It’ll get you killed more often than not.
This game hates you and wants you to feel the pain of Dragonrot.
