10 Video Game Bosses That Made Us Rage Quit (2023 Edition)

5. The Heir - Tunic (2022)

While the adorably colourful Tunic may look like a light-hearted isometric adventure that pays homage to the Zeldas of old, under this cutesy surface is an unforgiving experience that refuses to give players any guidance.

In a game this demanding, it shouldn’t be surprising that the bosses found within Tunic’s serene world are as punishing as any Dark Souls foe. One comparable to even the hardest of FromSoftware creations is The Heir.

The benevolent spirit who helps the fox protagonist throughout their adventure, fighting this boss is optional if players opt for a different ending. But if players do decide to fight, they’ll be in for a rough time. Likewise, while players can commence the fight at the end of the game, it’s recommended that they take the time to restore their upgrades by visiting the Heroes Graves to make the battle more manageable.

The heir will attack immediately after entering the arena, bombarding players with their powerful melee and magic attacks. Making the fight even harder is that this is the only boss in the game to have a second phase. Here, longer combos and a new health-draining attack only add to the already insane difficulty.
