10 Video Game Bosses That Take Absolutely AGES To Beat

8. Senator Armstrong - Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance

It'd be disappointing if a Metal Gear game didn't end with a gloriously over-the-top and hilariously overlong boss fight, and to that end, Raiden's climactic battle against the suited-up, nanomachine-infused Senator Armstrong certainly fits the barmy bill.

Armstrong is a classically OP final boss: his attacks pack an absurd punch, his fast movements make him tough to counter, and he's capable of easily countering much of your offence.

Players must battle through three gruelling, increasingly challenging phases to beat him, featuring tough QTE sequences and tougher close-quarters combat.

Even skilled players can easily spend over an hour taking Armstrong down, and though the fight mercifully features checkpoints between its phases, getting to the end is still a sweaty-palmed exercise in persistence.
