10 Video Game Bosses Who Didn't Even Try

7. Brainiac - Superman 64

There's something deeply appropriate about a game as low-effort as Superman 64 featuring a boss who makes almost zero attempt to hurt you, though as it turns out, these two facts ultimately go hand-in-hand.

The game features two equally uneventful boss battles against the legendary comic book villain Brainiac.

In the comics he has a God-tier intellect, but because developers Titus Interactive never quite got around to programming Brainiac's AI routines, he ironically has no intelligence at all in the game and just... stands there while you pummel him.

In both fights, the only fleck of resistance he'll put up is firing a heat beam back at you if you use heat vision, but otherwise he literally just stands on the spot while you attack.

Hilariously, though, during the second encounter - which is also the game's final boss fight - you don't even need to fight Brainiac at all, as you can just walk past him and trigger the game's ending sequence while he does absolutely nothing to stop you.

Granted, the vast majority of players never stuck with Superman 64 long enough to make it this far, but those few who persevered got a laughable damp squib of a final boss.
