For those of you too young to remember the early arcade scene, game developers realized very quickly that making super-tough games was the best way to make money. Sinistar was one of the many arcade games of the 1980s built with the premise of making players shed quarters at the highest possible rate.

The game has a simple premise: You are a lone starfighter mining crystals from asteroids in order to make a set of powerful homing missiles to defeat an evil living starship known as Sinistar. When you start the game, you've got some time to get ready because the enemies have to first build the ship. They do this by competing against you in mining the asteroids and then gathering together to build the giant lion-faced space vessel.

And once he's built? F*** You, that's what.

Sinistar will call you a coward, tell you to run, and that he hungers for you - and by the way, he moves a lot faster than you. It takes a total of 13 of the homing missiles to defeat him and you die when one of his minions shoot you or if he touches you. Once he's built, he's in the game until you manage to beat him, or run out of lives. Good luck.
