10 Video Game Characters We Couldn’t Wait To Kill

5. The End (Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater)

One of the most infamously infuriating bosses in video game history, The End is the 100-plus-year-old sniper who becomes a massive nuisance during the events of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. The boss battle in question can last close to an hour in length if you don't know what you're doing, as The End is an extremely skilled sniper and will sap your stamina with tranquilisers if you don't engage him in a smart and tactical manner. He is also very sneaky and can catch you unawares if you're not careful, sticking you up. Failure will result in returning to jail, and essentially having to start all over again. The key to beating The End is either to cheat and set your PS2 clock forward a week, causing him to die of old age, or use a combination of thermal imaging and directional mics to track his location. You do have the option to simply tranquilise The End, but given how much of a headache his existence causes, I personally like to pop a few caps in his dome. The old guy finally expires, and the rest of MGS3 seems like a piece of cake as a result.
