10 Video Game Characters That Deserved To Die (But Didn't)

6. Carter Blake - Heavy Rain

Quantic Dream

The big appeal of Quantic Dream's interactive drama games is that there are no Game Overs, and players are in fact free to lead any of the playable characters to their eventual deaths.

Sadly that doesn't extend to the supporting cast, especially in the case of Heavy Rain's Lt. Carter Blake, the partner of player character Norman Jayden while they investigate the Origami Killer.

With a fondness for police brutality and a dogged determination to nail the innocent Ethan Mars as the killer - even getting Ethan killed in some of the game's endings - he's pretty much a walking, talking corrupt cop cliche.

While there are possible endings where Blake can be suspended from the force or even end up haunted by a digital manifestation of a dead Norman, there sadly aren't any endings where he pays the ultimate mortal price for his savagery.

Considering how much of a rageaholic malcontent he is throughout the game, he totally deserved to catch a bullet or twelve.
