10 Video Game Characters Who Were Secretly The Villain All Along
7. Abigail Williams - Murdered: Soul Suspect
While Murdered: Soul Suspect is perhaps not the best game of all time, it does come with a decently unexpected surprise in it. Given the fact you may have slogged your way through the game until this point, it should come as even more of a surprise, as you realise that the plot has some legit work put into it.
Because the culprit of the string of teen girl murders - and your own murder - is delicately revealed to be Abigail, another spirit who you meet towards the start of the game. As Abigail teaches you some of the tips and tricks to being a spirit, you naturally write her off as a Casper-level friendly ghost.
In actuality, she lived during the time of the Salem Witch Trials, wherein she was one of the young girls used to accuse women of being witches. Having been basically tortured into hating "witches" by her father, Abigail would be killed when the women were eventually released, as the town feared she would harm or kill the innocent young women.
Enraged by this, the spirit of Abigail would haunt the town, hunting for more suspected witches. However, given Abigail uses a kind of ghost magic to do so, the whole thing is now a little extra ironic.
