8. Level Skip - The Lion King

In the 16-bit era, games like Aladdin, Goof Troop, and Castle Of Illusion garnered a reputation for being legitimately good, but also challenging in a tough, but ultimately fair way.

The SNES versions in particular would always find ways to blow gamers out of the water, using the console's extensive color-palette and remarkable sound-chip to tactfully recreate scenes from the iconic movies. Level design was always intuitive, and the challenge demanded that the kids sharpen their senses and get their reaction speed up.

This legitimate sense of challenge has made this particular code a controversial one.

Level skipping has been with games for a long time. Before the era of save states, repeat play-throughs could be a real pain for anyone that didn't know the placement or inputs to warp them to where they left off.

In Lion King's case, the code certainly worked, however beating the level the player skipped to would result in them getting sent all the way back to level two.

Whether this was an intentional way to reprimand the player, or just a glitch, it meant no one saw any real use in this code.
