Rarely is there a case where a game requires the player's character to actually perform a series of button presses in the game in order to get the cheat codes to work, but it fits that Banjo Kazooie is a Rare title.

While many rave about the stop 'n' swop capabilities that worked in conjunction with this cheating area -- since the codes could only be input in one specific part of the map -- most people that have actually input these codes can describe in vivid detail just how tedious and laborious the whole process is.

Banjo had to walk across a set of tiles, not arranged alphabetically, and ground pound on each lettered tile in order to form codes, some of which could go on as long as a sentence. This entailed finding the codes, committing them to memory, and manually tapping in each letter, one at a time.

Even worse, some of these codes waived save functionality since they were intended for use by beta-testers and the quality assurance team. Few things are as bad as going through all the effort to put the code in, and not even be able to properly reap the rewards.
