10 Video Game Classics That Desperately Deserve Remakes
8. Shenmue
Could there honestly be a better time for this to become a reality? Shenmue III has finally left the realms of being an impossible dream to an actual reality thanks to an equal showing of passion from both fans and series creator Yu Suzuki. While Sega seemingly didn't care enough about a third game to fund it themselves, they can certainly put things right (and stop making bad Sonic games) by throwing some money behind a Shenmue remake to initiate those who are unaware of its legacy. Hell, if the current news and eBay listings are anything to by, the announcement of the long-awaited third game has actually re-ignited interest in the Sega Dreamcast as a whole, and if that's not a clear sign that a Shenmue remake would bring in the big bucks, then what is? Part of what made the original so mesmerising was its realistic depiction of a 1980s Japan undergoing a drastic process of Americanisation against the backdrop of traditional Japanese culture. Imagine that stark visual image but in a fully re-written graphics engine. Oh, and streamline those controls while you're at it, Sega. Anyone who thinks the original Resident Evil games had tanky controls obviously never played Shenmue.
