10 Video Game Cliffhangers That Went NOWHERE

8. Nocturne (1999)

Days Gone
Terminal Reality

The history of the survival horror genre is littered with the corpses of many great video games that didn't get the love they deserved. Not every title can be Resident Evil or Silent Hill, and unfortunately, this underrated classic is one of those left by the wayside.

Nocturne puts you in the shoes of a mysterious character known as The Stranger, who works for an organisation known as Spookhouse. Despite sounding like an off-road haunted house, this unit actually specialises in combating supernatural creatures, with the game sending you on four unique missions to quell threats such as vampires, werewolves, and zombies.

However, following those four missions is a short epilogue that dials the horror up to eleven.

This final chapter shows as The Stranger returns to his Spookhouse office to find his staff brutally dismembered. After some exploration, he stumbles upon a note written in blood on a wall saying, "Finally found you, Stranger!"

It's a creepy moment, and perhaps it's better for The Stranger that we never found out who did this.
