10 Video Game Companions So Powerful They Made YOU Feel Like The Sidekick

In Baldur's Gate 3, you play as an adventurer fighting against the dreaded Cult of the Absolute. You are obviously capable of achieving great things, but let's be honest: unless you're playing as the Dark Urge or an Origin character, compared to the rest of your party, you're a total nobody.

Between Shadowheart, a chosen cleric of goddess Shar, Gale, a wizard who had a full-on romance with another goddess, and Karlach, a tiefling who fought her way out of literal hells, the generic Tav with no cool backstory whatsoever seems a bit out of place. And that's not even the full list of companions with outstanding origins!

Sure, you can make up a backstory for your Tav, but even the power of imagination can do so much for your self-esteem when the rest of your party gets to play out special events related to their origin and talk about their deep personal drama in-game. It just makes you look like a kid playing pretend amongst overpowered demi-gods.

But then again, maybe it is your utter lack of defining characteristics that makes you so special. After all, if everyone's some amazing prodigy or chosen hero, it's the boring one that sticks out the most.
