6. Arceus - Pokemon
The story formula that each Pokemon game follows is pretty simple. You defeat gym leaders, earn badges, become the new Pokemon champion, and stop fanatical criminals from ending the world.
From the perspective of an average ten-year-old in the Pokemon world, the stakes are pretty high (maybe even too high, given the whole crime-busting thing), but it all becomes a bit silly in comparison once the legendary Pokemon come into play. More specifically, the legendary Pokemon that acts as your literal god.
Arceus, the god creator of the Pokemon world, can, for some reason, be caught in a pokeball like any other creature in the game. This already sounds strange, but what's stranger is the implication this has for the rest of the game.
After all, why would you care about beating the Pokemon League? Why do you need to stop another team of villains from causing trouble? You have the literal power of a god trapped inside your pokeball, so by all means, nothing you can achieve can possibly compare. The game should already be over.
Well, maybe not. After all, it's still pretty fun to pit Arceus against random pre-schoolers and their low-level Rattatas.
