10 Video Game Crossovers That Went Too Far

6. Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing Transformed's Bizarre Guests

Sega And Sonic All-Star Racers
SEGA

The Sega All-Star series is a weird one, consisting of two kart racers and a tennis game. However, what ties them together is their celebration of Sega’s history, featuring characters from Sonic, Crazy Taxi, Super Monkey Ball and so on. The first racing title also had a few surprise characters join the starting line such as Nintendo’s Mii’s and Microsoft's Xbox Avatars.

It was the follow-up - Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing Transformed - where things got progressively weirder.

Even though it was before the release of the sequel (which featured Sonic), Wreck-It Ralph wasn’t too far off a stretch. That being said, Team Fortress characters are a little out there, as is adding a fictional Roman general called Willemus to represent Total War. At this stage it felt like Sega were picking names out of a hat.

But rest assured the weirdness had yet to truly begin as next up was Danica Patrick. Amongst this smorgasbord of gaming characters, we suddenly have a real-life NASCAR driver for some unknown reason. Then, to top it all off, members of Yogscast, the gaming YouTube channel, were also added as downloadable content. What?!

It’s a good thing Sega put an end to the DLC for this game because if it kept up by now we’d have Nicolas Cage, Brum and the old lady who lives at the end of your road.
