Far Cry 3's DLC, Blood Dragon, did a surprising good job of reviving the players' interest in the game long after they had finished it. Released nearly a year after the original, Blood Dragon completely flipped Far Cry 3 on its head, without changing a single thing about its gameplay.

The DLC is inspired by the flashy and over-the-top aesthetic of 80's action movies and takes place in a retro-future dystopia, where nuclear warfare has mutated some of the world's animals into the titular Blood Dragons.

Taking the role of a cyborg super soldier, Rex "Power" Colt, in a truly 80's fashion you save the world from complete devastation with badass gun tricks, quippy one-liners, and lots and lots of explosives.

The setting and presentation do all the heavy lifting in this DLC. Though the gameplay of Far Cry 3 was pretty much dumbed down for Blood Dragon, the sheer personality of the DLC can keep you entertained all the way through the story.

Synthwave music, retro-game-inspired cutscenes and a campy 80's vibe provides plenty of chuckle-worthy moments and genuinely thrilling action scenes.
