10 Video Game DLCs That Went Off The Rails
2. Assassin's Creed III: The Tyranny Of King Washington
The Tyranny of King Washington is another DLC with a fun "what if" scenario, although its presentation is somewhat rough around the edges.
As the title suggests, the DLC takes place in an alternate timeline where George Washington has declared himself the new king of the United States of America, shortly after winning the independence war against the British.
In this timeline, the main character of the game, Ratonhnhaké:ton (or Connor), has never joined the Assassin Order, and because of this, most of his allies from the original timeline are now his enemies. Connor will be forced to take them down one by one in order to overthrow the tyrannical King Washington.
Aside from the interesting alternate history concept, Tyranny of King Washington also freshens up the combat with a fun animal powers mechanic, which allows you to transform yourself into an eagle, a bear, or summon a pack of wolves to aid you in a fight.
Unfortunately, the game also has its fair share of flaws, one of them being its ending. The game went for the copout option of revealing that the entire story was just a huge hallucination of Washington and Connor, and everything you did never really mattered.
