10 Video Game Easter Eggs That Went Too Far

2. Belittling Vice City - DriV3r

Look, there's nothing wrong with busting the balls of your competition, so long as it's clever, tasteful, and funny. Unfortunately, Driv3r's jab on Grand Theft Auto: Vice City failed at all three.

While exploring Nice, Istanbul, or Miami, you can encounter a character called Timmy Vermicelli. Because of his name, it's obvious this NPC is inspired by Vice City's Tommy Vercetti. As an added touch, Vermicelli is equipped with arm floats, to highlight the fact Vercetti drowns instantly in Vice City when he goes near water.

In Driv3r's defence, this isn't a malicious gag. After all, the developers are just getting back at RockSteady, since GTA III included a parody of Driver's hero, Tanner. To be fair, you'll probably chuckle the first time you see this Vercetti rip-off.

But it's only funny the first time. Because you're expected to meet 30 Timmy Vermicellis throughout the city, the joke gets tired really fast! Once you see Timmy a dozen times, you can't help thinking "We get it!"

If Driv3r poked fun at GTA once, it would've been fine. But since they hammered the joke into the ground over and over, it's cringeworthy.
