10 Video Game Enemies So Hard They Got DELETED

8. Mermaids - Resident Evil Village

Resident Evil Village certainly loves to throw hellacious swarms of enemies at the player, but Capcom decided that tossing murderous mermaids into the mix during the game's swamp section was a bridge too far.

Reliable Resident Evil leaker Dusk Golem revealed back in 2022 that players would originally encounter mermaids in the swamp, which would quickly gravitate towards players, forcing them to either fight back or rush to a patch of land which the creatures couldn't reach.

Dusk Golem added that the mermaids could also stun you on land by administering a screech attack, which was intended to leave you vulnerable to a Tyrant-like stalker enemy which was also originally in the swamp - possibly an alternate version of the swamp's boss, Salvatore Moreau.

The leaker added that the mermaids were "annoying" during development and would've needed more development time to be reworked into something fun for players.

And so with limited time to improve the frustrating mermaids, Capcom decided to scrap them entirely and instead focus on fleshing out the Castle Dimitrescu and Heisenberg's Factory sections of the game, which they ultimately felt were more important.
