10 Video Game Enemies So Hard They Got DELETED

4. Black Fog - Resident Evil 4

Fallout 4
Capcom

Unlike the mermaids in Resident Evil Village, the Black Fog enemy in Resident Evil 4 wasn't cut because it was annoying for players, but because it was a massive pain for Capcom themselves.

In early versions of the game, Leon would face off against a sentient, fog-like entity which would appear in the game's Castle section.

Originally, this creature would be responsible for Leon becoming infected with the Las Plagas parasite, rather than being injected with it at the behest of village chief Bitores Mendez as in the final game.

But the Black Fog was deleted from Resident Evil 4 because Capcom's developers struggled to reach the desired level of animation on the GameCube's hardware.

This wasn't entirely the last we saw of the entity, though, as it almost certainly inspired the rather similar-looking Uroboros from Resident Evil 5, which was apparently complex enough itself that it required Capcom to develop new bespoke animation tools from the ground-up.
