With both these stellar titles being developed by Naughty Dog and published by Sony, players of both franchises probably wouldn't have been too surprised to see the odd Easter egg or reference popping up linking the two series. However, this overlap has also birthed one of the most interesting fan theories in the world of gaming.

Both games have similar gameplay and similar mechanics, but their stories and settings couldn't be further apart. Uncharted features stunning visuals and exotic landscapes, whilst The Last of Us is set in a post-apocalyptic wasteland.

But there's a theory circulating around that these two worlds might just be one and the same. The evidence for this theory comes from a particular newspaper article that players can stumble upon in Uncharted 2. This newspaper opens with a headline warning its readers of a deadly fungal virus that has been sweeping around the world.

Given the backdrop surrounding The Last of Us and its abundance of zombie victims to a world-ending plague, it's definitely a theory that is worth stopping for a second and thinking over.

Could this be another playful Easter egg sandwiched into a franchise known for them? Absolutely. Could it be a message from the developers hinting at something far deeper? Also absolutely.
