Whenever players dive into the world of Pokemon, they're always greeted by light vibrant colours, warm characters and plenty of messages around looking out for one another. But, could one fan theory prove to be all a smokescreen for something much darker?

Pokemon is aimed at a certain demographic, and that's fairly reflected in the majority of children and young teenagers running around the place. Whilst there are a few professors, nurses and trainers, they are so disproportionate to the amount of children that it is certainly enough to raise suspicion.

And the age gap between those adults and children is also a strange point of concern.

Some fans of the franchise has speculated that the world of Pokemon is actually set in the aftermath of a bloody generational conflict. The age gaps between the adults and children is one thing, but the abundance of orphans and single parent households suggests that something bad could have well happened in the years gone by.

It's certainly a deliciously dark take on a franchise that took up so many people's childhoods, and definitely adds a layer onto the characters seen in each game.
