10 Video Game Features Literally No One Asked For
8. Assassin Recruits: Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood
The Assassin's Creed franchise seemed to be going from strength to strength in 2010 when they released the third major installment in the series, Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood.
Continuing the story of Ezio Auditore da Firenze as he takes on a quest to restore the Assassin order and take down the powerful Borgia family, who have taken over the papacy, it's an incredible game, with a lot to love. Brotherhood improved upon all of the things that its predecessors did right, and had an interesting and engaging story that was a joy to experience.
That said, they did somehow manage to force the Assassin Recruits feature in, which was nothing but unnecessary.
Giving players the option to rescue civilians from guards and then recruit them into the Assassin Order does lend some authenticity to Ezio's intentions of restoring the Assassins, but it could have easily been managed alongside the game's main story alone.
What we were given instead was a strange management mini-game in which we sent Assassin Recruits around the globe in the hopes that they'd survive and occasionally appear to assassinate a handful of guards when called upon.
