10 Video Game Fights You Didn't Know How To End
2. Mr. Freeze - Batman: Arkham City
Without question the greatest and most deliciously challenging boss fight in the entire Batman: Arkham series is the showdown with venerable Bat-baddie Mr. Freeze in Arkham City.
The genius of the fight is that Mr. Freeze basically has an answer for each of Batman's attacks, such that you'll only be allowed to land a particular attack on him once before he unleashes a counter-measure to prevent you doing it again.
Examples include freezing the vents to stop you popping out, activating drones to detect your presence, and lowering the air temperature of the room to prevent gliding.
There are twelve possible ways to attack Freeze, and you need to land five in order to beat him on Normal difficulty, eight on Hard, and a ridiculous nine on New Game+.
To beat Freeze, you need a studied mastery of Batman's abilities, and as a result many players have found themselves stuck trying to figure out whatever else they could possibly throw at him.
Though the potential for frustration speaks for itself, it's also one of the most ingeniously designed and impressively dynamic boss fights of the last decade.
