10 Video Game Franchises That Need To Die
6. Madden
Honestly, you could probably put most sports games in this spot, but Madden showcases the problem like no other.
With "John Madden Football" first coming out in 1988, the series then turned into an annual franchise in 1990 and never looked back. That's right, they have only missed one year since 1988. In 34 years, they only skipped one year.
And after all of that time, the developers eventually just...stopped trying.
After all, why bother? The game is going to make the same amount of money every year, why put in more effort than you have to? Just change the roster, add in one or two things, and let the people who like to simulate football (the "American" kind, not the "rest of the world" kind) go nuts.
The last few entries have been especially rough, with microtransactions filling the titles, bad career modes, and just a complete lack of innovation for any meaningful mechanics. Even more hardcore fans are starting to get sick of what's on offer, and with FIFA completely overhauling itself in 2023, it might be better to sack this off too.
