10 Video Game Franchises That Need To Die
5. New Super Mario Bros.
When the first New Super Mario Bros game for the DS came out, it was a welcome change of pace. Having the plumber go back to his 2D roots in a brand new adventure was a fun time, and was rightfully praised as a result.
The problem is, they didn't change much after that first entry, and then put a New Super Mario Bros game on every Nintendo console afterwards.
Games for the DS, 3DS, Wii, Wii U, and the Switch have come out, and each one had one new power-up added to it, if you were lucky.
While seeing Mario in a 2D space is still a good time, the series has lost its luster, and the series just hasn't innovated enough to justify having so many of them. It's time for 2D Mario to escape from the New Super Mario Bros franchise, and try to do something new for once.
