10 Video Game Genres That NEED To Make A Comeback

7. Movie Tie-In Video Games

Movie tie-ins seem to have gone the way of the buffalo in recent years. With their lackluster reception and presentation in the past few generations of gaming consoles, it's not hard to see why. However there was a time when movie tie-ins could yield great results. Titles like Aladdin, The Lion King and Two Towers were all classics in their own right, and fondly remembered. Now that Disney has their hands on so many franchises, it seems obvious that they would dip their toes into making big budget video-game tie-ins to their properties once more.

Kingdom Hearts III is one of the few major modern games which come close to a movie tie-in. However moving outside of the realm of Disney the landscape is fairly barren, barring the occasional mobile game. Even keeping inside of Disney, short of a few Star Wars titles, they seem to have lost interest in making games that tie in to their bigger franchises. The Marvel movies are a global phenomenon yet we have to look back all the way to 2011's Winter Soldier for a video game tie in. Maybe it's time for another media conglomerate to claim this lost market?
