Okay, so the Crash Bandicoot masochists would have likely preferred it if this idea had stayed in the game. But, for everybody else, not having to get through this legendary nightmare of a level was a huge blessing.

"Stormy Ascent" is a level from the original Crash Bandicoot. At least, it was supposed to be before the devs decided to remove it from the game. What was their reason for doing so? Well, to put it plainly, it was way too hard.

Most of those who have strolled through this hellish ascent will happily agree that it is one of Crash's most challenging stages. It's a brutally punishing level that requires pitch-perfect platforming, features a tonne of unfair enemy placement, has minimal margin for error, and goes on for so long you'd think it was a JRPG.

Those who did want to play this level could do so via a Gameshark cheat device for the original game and through DLC in the N. Sane Trilogy. Still, the PlayStation 1 would have seen countless broken controllers had Naughty Dog kept this in the original main release.
