10 Video Game Ideas We're GLAD Got Cut
6. The Baby Cry - Silent Hill 3

When you hear that something was cut from a Silent Hill game for being too disturbing, your mind will probably start racing. Too disturbing? What on Earth could be too disturbing for this freaky-as-hell franchise? Well, it might be hard to believe, but the lone sound of a crying baby, that's it. It sounds like nothing but read on, and you'll see why it had to go.
If you've played Silent Hill 3 and defeated the final boss, you might have wondered why the following cutscene ends with Heather Mason turning towards the camera as if reacting to something, before the screen fades to black. Well, the original cut featured the distressed cries of a baby. The implication was that the final boss had been reborn as an infant, linking to the consistent theme of rebirth in Silent Hill.
What makes this so disturbing, however, is that Heather would have ditched the baby. There's undoubtedly more nuance to it, given the godly reincarnation implications, but ending a game with your protagonist leaving a crying baby to die is something nobody wants. Ambiguity was undoubtedly the better choice here.
