Seriously, man, this is getting so goddamn played out at this point and it is getting so old. Final Fantasy, Zelda, Kingdom Hearts, Earthbound, Persona, name a game.

Back in the day, when we were grubby wee squirts, the first time you defeated the final boss - or thought you had anyway - and they reemerged as some horrific, gargantuan demon or something? Man, that was legitimately mind blowing and tense as all hell because you had no idea how on earth you were going to overcome this challenge. In fact, I bet the first time around you thought there was no way because, clearly, this thing was immortal.

Nowadays though... meh. This kind of boss battle isn't annoying, it isn't boring, it's just so predictable at this point. What's worse is the fact that pretty much every single game still tries to get us with the whole "Agh! You've defeated me! Now I shall fall off this cliff never to return!" pull-and-reveal thing.

And rather than be lulled into that old false sense of security you once felt now it's more a case of "Dude, just cut the crap and evolve or whatever so we can get this over with." In fact, it's kind of insulting developers still expect people to fall for it.
