A lot of unpleasant things happen to Ethan Winters in Resident Evil Village. In addition to his infant daughter being taken from him at the start of the game, he's also mauled by a werewolf moments after arriving in the titular village, pursued by vampires, and trapped in a factory full of murderous mechanical soldiers.

However, the most horrifying thing that Ethan faces comes when he enters the home of Donna Beneviento.

Even before players arrive at the house, the creepy dolls lining the path there alongside appearances from a ghostly Mia set the scene for something frightening to come.

The tension is only wound tighter once players step inside and find themselves solving a series of puzzles to make their way back out. With many spooky happenings occurring, something feels deeply wrong with this place. This feeling is only amplified when players realise that something has escaped from the depths of a well.

The nerve-wracking suspense hits its breaking point when players are unexpectedly confronted by a monstrous baby in a heart-pounding jump scare before a deadly game of hide and seek ensues.

One of the scariest moments in recent games, it was clear that nothing good was going to happen in that house.
