Much like the first game, siblings Amicia and Hugo’s journey in A Plague Tale: Innocence is filled with death and tragedy.

However, it looks like their situation might finally be improving when they arrive at the island of La Cuna and are taken in by the welcoming Count and Countess. Not only do they discover a way that could stop Hugo’s affliction from worsening, consequently putting an end to the horrific rat plague, but they’re likewise reunited with their mother and close friend Lucas upon returning to the Count's castle following their groundbreaking revelation.

Just as the group are about to leave for the harbour and escape to live a quiet life as a family, the Count summons Amicia for a chat.
