10 Video Game Missed Opportunities We're STILL Not Over

7. All Of Mass Effect Andromeda

Brutal Legend
Electronic Arts

What happened, Bioware? Once one of the most well-respected gaming companies out there, Bioware has had a rough few years.

They've made headlines more recently for the various problems Anthem had, but it was Mass Effect: Andromeda that sent them on the slippery slope they're currently falling down head-first.

While Andromeda has some decent mechanics, and isn't necessarily a terrible game, it was a terrible rush job. Upon release, Andromeda was filled with so many bugs, including such classics as the bizarre squat-run combo after going down stairs, and Director Addison's completely inexpressive face. Let's not even get started on some of the facial animations which were, frankly, embarassing.

The Mass Effect series is one that's beloved by so many gamers, and there was a whole lot riding on Andromeda to be a big relaunch of the franchise for this generation. Unfortunately, what we got was a merely passable effort that nowhere near hit the highs of the original trilogy; internally at Bioware, Andromeda was almost an afterthought as the bulk of the team worked on what would end up being Anthem.

If the Mass Effect IP isn't completely dead yet, let's hope Bioware (and their overlords, EA) decide to actually put all of their resources into making a sequel and/or reboot be the game it deserves to be.
